Job Summary

Deliver direct and indirect care to individual or groups of psychiatric patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Responsibilities include patient data collection, implementing age-appropriate interventions, using therapeutic communication, and assisting with therapeutic and recreational activities.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent (preferred)
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or related experience (preferred)
• Two years' experience in mental healthcare (preferred)

• Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) licensure in the state of practice (preferred)

• Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse (LVN/LPN) or LPT (required)

• Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)

Essential Functions

• Use de-escalation techniques and less restrictive interventions, including seclusion and restraint as needed.
• Manage admissions, discharges, intake interviews, and patient screening.
• Monitor, document, and report patient conditions and responses to care.
• Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team members about patient status and safety.
• Administer medications following physician orders and obtain necessary consents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
