Essentia Health is hiring for an Emergency Services Behavioral Health role at St. Marys Medical Center in Duluth, MN.

The position supports patient care under nursing leadership, delivering age-appropriate activities and caring for patients from pre-adolescents to geriatrics. You will work under the supervision of registered nurses, participate in assessment, planning, and evaluation of care, and contribute to a safe, healing environment in a fast-paced emergency setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in social services related field required or preferred.
• 1 year experience working with people with mental health symptoms or related applicable experience.
• Certified Peer Support Specialist in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
• Successful completion of a behavioral health internship as part of a degree seeking program within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists with assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of selected patient care tasks under RN supervision.
• Provide direct/indirect care to patients across age groups and support care plans.
• Assist with personal hygiene, nutrition, safety, vital signs, and documentation.
• Use de-escalation techniques to maintain unit safety and support distressed patients.
• Facilitate activities and groups as directed to improve patient engagement and well-being.

This role delivers direct and indirect care to pre-adolescents through geriatric patients, offering age-appropriate activities aligned with their care plans, either individually or in group settings.Education Qualifications:Key Requirements:Assists with assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of selected technical aspects of patient care under direct supervision of the registered nurse to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other regulatory or accrediting agenciesProvided direct/indirect care for patients to support the patient's needs as directed.
