Job summary

Renew360° is a detoxification and residential treatment facility in Toms River, NJ, seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to provide direct patient care in a structured residential setting. You will monitor client behavior, assist with daily activities, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires CPR/First Aid and a valid driver's license, with weekend day shifts (Sat-Sun-Mon) from 6:00am to 6:30pm and three 12.5-hour shifts overall.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record (if required for transport duties).
• CPR/First Aid certification required.
• Experience in behavioral health, substance use, or related setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, compassionate care and support to clients in a therapeutic environment.
• Monitor and document client behavior, mood, and physical condition; conduct wellness and safety checks.
• Assist clients with activities of daily living and encourage participation in the program.
• Oversee medication self-administration and monitoring; conduct urinary analyses.
• Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans and behavior intervention plans.
• Facilitate group sessions and milieu activities.
• Respond to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques and ensure safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate documentation of client progress in EMR.
• Drive clients in company vehicles to appointments or activities as needed.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to develop and adjust treatment plans.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings and trainings.

JOB PURPOSE

A Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) at Renew360° will provide direct patient care and support to individuals with substance use and mental health challenges within a residential or detox facility. The core responsibilities include monitoring client behavior, assisting with daily routines, ensuring a safe environment, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

TIME COMMITMENT

Full time, in person onsite position, consisting of three 12 and a half hour shifts with weekends and holidays as assigned. This role will be working day shift (6am-6:30pm) on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Client Support & Supervision:

1. Provide direct, compassionate care and support to clients in a therapeutic environment.
2. Monitor and document client behavior, mood, and physical condition, conducting regular wellness and safety checks.
3. Assist clients with daily living activities (e.g., hygiene, meals) and encourage participation in the program.
4. Oversee medication self-administration/monitoring and conduct necessary urinary analyses.

Treatment Implementation & Crisis Intervention:

1. Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans and behavior intervention plans developed by licensed professionals.
2. Facilitate group sessions and milieu activities such as community meetings, life skills, and psychoeducation.
3. Respond to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques and ensure safety protocols are followed.
4. Utilize behavior modification and motivational interviewing skills to teach desirable behaviors.

Documentation & Administration:

1. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress, observations, and incident reports in an electronic medical record system.
2. Assist with intake/admission and discharge processes, including client orientation and inventory of personal belongings.
3. Drive clients in company vehicles to appointments or community activities as needed.

Team Collaboration:

1. Collaborate effectively with clinical staff, nurses, doctors, and therapists to develop and adjust treatment plans.
2. Attend mandatory staff meetings, supervision, and ongoing training sessions.

WORKING CONDITIONS
