Job summary

Chesapeake Regional Healthcare is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to support patients in an acute behavioral health setting. You will collaborate with nurses and clinicians, assist with daily care, and help organize activities while monitoring patients.

You will need effective communication, compassion, attention to detail, de-escalation techniques, and strong time management. BLS certification is required, with 90 days to obtain if needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of care partner/CNA or similar role experience.
• BLS certification required; if not current, obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred: prior experience with behavioral health patient population.

Responsibilities

• Develop a therapeutic relationship with behavioral health patients and monitor interactions.
• Assist in daily patient care tasks, organize activities, and support safety.
• Perform vital signs, glucose monitoring, EKGs, and specimen collection as needed.
• Respond to call lights and coordinate with nurses and clinicians.
• Participate in training programs for clinical staff.
