Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to join the Montgomery Medical Center team. You will provide direct and indirect patient care for behavioral health patients under the supervision of an RN, with duties spanning adults, geriatrics, and pediatrics.

The role emphasizes recognizing escalation signs, de-escalation, phlebotomy, vital signs, and maintaining a safe, organized unit. CPR certification and hospital behavioral health experience strengthen candidacy.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 2 years' experience in mental health/addictions.
• Minimum 6 months hospital/behavioral health experience if you have an Associate's degree.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic, routine, and specialized tasks under RN supervision while maintaining patient comfort, privacy and dignity.
• Observes patient activity, documents data accurately in the medical record, and reports changes to RN.
• Maintains a clean, safe work environment and restocks supplies as needed.
• Demonstrates de-escalation techniques and timely escalation when necessary.
