Job summary

LewisGale Hospital Alleghany is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to support patient safety and daily care in the Mental Health unit. The role includes data collection, documentation, and teamwork within state nursing standards, with focus on observation and intervention.

Ideal candidates have coursework in Psychology or related Human Services, and seek to gain experience in a dedicated behavioral health setting within the LewisGale Regional Health System network.

Qualifications

• College degree or course work in Psychology or related Human Services field is preferred.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• One year experience in a mental health or human services field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Function as a treatment team member and conduct patient observation rounds and suicide risk observation.
• Assist in admission of new patients and prepare them for patient care.
• Observe changes in patient condition and report to RN or Charge nurse.
• Ask the 3 Ps (pain, potty, positioning) prior to leaving a patient room.
• Escort patients to scheduled activities in a safe and professional manner.
