Job summary

Quail Run Hospital in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (Intake) to join the treatment team. You will support admissions by checking in patients, recording demographics and clinical data, and initiating the electronic medical record.

You will also monitor patient safety, take vital signs, and observe for changes affecting the treatment plan, under RN supervision. This role requires a high school diploma and a year of psychiatric care experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate degree in behavioral health is preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience working in a psychiatric setting is required.
• Handle With Care and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Providers are required.
• Level 1 Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Accurately check in patients upon arrival and enter demographic and clinical data into the EMR to initiate admission.
• Take and record vital signs promptly and ensure patient safety through supervision.
• Monitor patient location and observe changes in appearance, behavior, or progress toward treatment goals.

Job Description

Behavioral Heath Technician (Intake) functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from adolescents through geriatrics depending on which unit worked. BHT’S work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Accurately check in patients upon arrival and promptly enter required demographic and clinical information into the electronic medical record to initiate and support the admission process in a timely and efficient manner.

• Take and record vital signs promptly and ensure patient safety through continuous supervision of patient.

• Monitor each patient’s location per the Observation Policy and Procedure and utilize sound judgment during assessment and observe and documents any changes in a patient's appearance, behavior, or ability to work toward treatment plan goals.
