Job summary

Quail Run Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, a 115-bed acute care psychiatric facility, seeks a Staff Nurse (RN) to coordinate and evaluate patient care in collaboration with the health care team. The role serves adolescents, adults and seniors across inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs.

Applicants should hold an Arizona license (or compact privileges) with one year of psychiatric inpatient experience preferred; BLS for Providers is required and Level 1 AZ

Job Description

The Staff Nurse (R.N.) is a registered professional nurse who prescribes, coordinates, and evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Assessment: Document patient information and nursing care in the provision of nursing services. Document and reassess any significant changes in the patient's condition in compliance with facility policy. Report any signs or symptoms of infection in patients to the Infection Control Nurse. Verify the accuracy of patient records. Complete and report Acuities to supervisor for the next shifts staffing levels.
• Milieu: Assure patients are adequately oriented to the program. Monitor program activity and encourage patient participation. Prescribe and coordinate nursing care to patients, during episode of care and provide structure and maintain a therapeutic environment in collaboration with the patient and other health care providers.
• Intervention: Employ principles of communication, interviewing techniques, problem solving and crisis intervention when performing psychotherapeutic interventions. Intervention is based on knowledge of psychiatric and medical nursing procedures, as well as the plan of care. Accurately administer medication to patients by using the 7 rights of Medication Administration. Transcribe and carry out physician's/licensed practitioner's treatment orders accurately. Utilize appropriate interventions in psychiatric and medical emergencies.

Job Requirements

• Current license to practice nursing in Arizona or compact privileges (out of state compact license: must apply for an AZ license within 60 days of hire).
• New grads welcome to apply. One year of experience working in a psychiatric inpatient setting preferred. One year of med/surge experience is strongly preferred for the geriatric unit.
• Handle With Care and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Providers required. Training provided at the facility.
• Level 1 Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire.
