Job summary

Center for Family Services seeks an experienced Behavioral Health Technician for the 24-hour Crisis Receiving Stabilization Center in New Jersey. This part-time overnight position supports adults in a psychiatric crisis with therapeutic interventions and coordinated care.

The role requires a behavioral health background, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work closely with clinicians and staff to ensure safety and quality care. A sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health field.
• At least two years of experience with individuals with a serious mental illness or with a substance use disorder.
• Current driver's license with a clean three-year driving record.
• Behavioral health technician certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the admission process of new consumer admissions.
• Record Inventory logs of consumer belongings and valuables; secure lockers for valuables.
• Collaborate with licensed clinicians and the clinical team to plan care and disposition.
• Apply trauma-informed care in all consumer interactions.
• Provide ongoing observation of consumers in the CRSC.
• Use de-escalation techniques to manage behaviors when needed.
• Support during crises using trauma-informed engagement and safety procedures.

PROGRAM SUMMARY

Center For Family Services is seeking experienced and professional Behavioral Health Technician for the Crisis Receiving Stabilization Center. This is a 24-hour psychiatric crisis center for adults experiencing a mental health crisis. The Crisis Receiving Stabilization Center provides a nurturing and supportive environment where our clients can receive therapeutic interventions for up to 24 hours.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists with the admission process of new consumer admissions.
• Records Inventory log of all consumer personal belongings, valuables and return ticket. Consumer valuables to be kept in the secure locker.
• Work closely with Licensed Clinician and clinical team to facilitate care of consumer and disposition planning.
• Apply trauma informed care approach to consumer interactions.
• Ongoing observation of consumers in the care of the CRSC.
• Exercise sound professional judgment and seek assistance as necessary to effectively manage consumer behavior. Utilize de-escalation techniques as appropriate.
• Provide support during behavioral health crises by using trauma-informed engagement, verbal de-escalation, environmental awareness, and approved program safety procedures to help maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu.
• Serve as liaison with CRSC staff to ensure that all consumer needs are met.
• Provides supervision of any food or meals for consumers in program.
• Provide emotional support for consumers while referring them to clinical staff to deal with clinical issues.
• Provide (using program vehicle) and/or arrange for transportation services for clients to afford access to services as needed.
• Complete all assigned paperwork in a neat, accurate and timely manner.
• Complete incident reports according to policy in a timely, accurate manner.
• Communicate with other staff as necessary to promote quality client care.
• Participate in required staff trainings and staff meetings as scheduled.
• Participate in Center and Program performance improvement activities.
• Observe and report safety, maintenance problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position and in accordance with program policies, training, and regulatory requirements.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health field
• At least two years of experience working with individuals with a serious mental illness or with a substance use disorder
• Current driver's license with a good driving record of at least three years
• Behavioral health technician certification preferred
