Job summary

Marquette General Hospital in Marquette, MI, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician. You will provide direct patient care under nursing supervision, assist with daily living activities, and help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients.

Responsibilities include observing and recording patient behavior, reporting changes to the nursing staff, and offering crisis intervention on unit and during incoming calls to support safety and treatment goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; years of relevant experience may substitute for education.
  • BLS-HSP certification required.
  • 1 year of mental health experience or education.
  • 3 years mental health experience preferred.
  • Ability to think critically and work with minimal supervision.

How you'll contribute
  • Under the supervision of nursing staff provides direct patient care and assists with maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Reports to: Senior Behavioral Health Director
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living.
  • Provides or assists with providing direct patient care, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions.
  • Observes and records patient behavior and activities.
  • Reports any changes in physical, mental or emotional condition to nursing staff and suggests modifications to the treatment plan.
  • Provides crisis intervention with incoming calls and on the unit to maintain safety.

What we're looking for

It is preferred that applicants have a Bachelor's Degree - Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education. Additional requirements include:

  • Basic life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HSP)
  • 1 year of mental Health experience or education
  • 3 years mental Health
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
