Behavioral Health Technician

Location: US-TX-Houston

Overview

Cognito LLC, a joint venture between Planned Systems International (PSI) and QuarterLine Consulting Services, is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to support the ICE Health Services Corps (IHSC) at the Houston Contract Detention Facility, TX.

As a civilian contractor, you will utilize your skills to provide high-quality healthcare to ICE detainees. IHSC operates within ICE, DHS, and USPHS, providing medical services for detainee health.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The BHT provides mental health screenings, patient care management, psycho-educational groups, and behavioral observations. They collaborate with Behavioral Health Providers, document in electronic health records, and coordinate follow-up care.

• Assist in providing direct services, health data collection, wellness checks, sleep checks, and patient safety monitoring under licensed BHP supervision.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups, develop behavioral interventions, and gather patient information for diagnosis and treatment.
• Document behavior observations, perform wellness checks, and respond to emergencies.
• Manage program schedules, chaperone appointments, and maintain proficiency in electronic health records.

Minimum Requirements

• Associates degree in behavioral sciences or related field.
• Certification: AAPT level three within 12 months; current BLS/CPR certification.
• Two years of experience in mental health settings.
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and maintain required immunizations.
• Knowledge of therapeutic communication, mental health screening, and electronic records.
• Proficiency in English, with strong communication and organizational skills.
• Cultural awareness, ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, and physical ability to respond to emergencies.
• Spanish-speaking preferred but not required.

Physical Demands

• Long periods of standing, walking, bending, lifting, and emergency response capabilities.
