Job summary

Priority Dispatch Corp. is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to support clients and the treatment team on the program floor. You will help with groups, exposure work, homework collection, and day-to-day flow, while maintaining safety and professional boundaries.

The role requires completing BHT trainings on schedule, accurate documentation, and strong communication with clinicians. You will contribute to a calm, structured environment and support continuity of care across shifts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some college or degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health, human services, or related field preferred.
  • Completion of Priority Dispatch Corp. BHT training and required competencies within assigned timelines.
  • Must pass all required background checks and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to use electronic records and basic computer systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support clients during groups, exposures, skills practice, breaks, transitions, and treatment-floor activities.
  • Assist with exposure setup, homework review, response-prevention reminders, client encouragement, and reduction of avoidance behaviors within scope.
  • Collect assigned scales, homework, attendance information, group materials, and client-support documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, clean, and therapeutic treatment-floor environment.
  • Communicate client concerns, disengagement, risk statements, family concerns, or unusual behavior promptly to clinicians or BHT leadership.
  • Participate in training, supervision, audits, and feedback to improve clinical support skills.
  • Support Facility Coordinator and Front Desk with limited facility-flow tasks when assigned and appropriate.

Job description

Purpose - The Behavioral Health Technician supports clients and the treatment team during programming by maintaining safety, structure, engagement, and treatment-floor momentum. This role assists with groups, exposures, homework collection, client monitoring, documentation support, and day-to-day program flow while staying within role scope and clinical direction.Key Performance Indicators and ReportingComplete assigned documentation, group notes, scale collection, homework collection, and task logs accurately and on time.Maintain active client engagement during assigned programming and avoid idle or unstructured client time.Support client satisfaction, attendance, exposure completion, and early-discharge reduction through consistent therapeutic support.Complete required training, competencies, supervision, and audit expectations within assigned timelines.Follow safety, de-escalation, confidentiality, and incident-reporting procedures 100% of the time.Maintain punctuality, professional appearance, positive floor presence, and schedule reliability.Escalate client distress, safety concerns, family concerns, documentation gaps, and treatment-floor issues promptly.Upon achieving these key performance indicators, your supervisor will meet with you to review progress and collaborate on establishing new performance goals that reflect continued growth and excellence.Core CompetenciesDemonstrate understanding of the BHT role, treatment-floor structure, client engagement, boundaries, confidentiality, and escalation requirements.Demonstrate ability to support exposure work and response-prevention goals under clinical direction without providing therapy independently.Demonstrate ability to facilitate or support groups, collect homework, maintain order, and keep clients engaged.Demonstrate calm communication, teamwork, humility, punctuality, and willingness to receive feedback.Demonstrate ability to document assigned activities clearly and accurately.Core Responsibilities - These duties may vary depending on job assignments and Company needs.Support clients during groups, exposures, skills practice, breaks, transitions, and treatment-floor activities according to clinical direction and Company standards.Assist with exposure setup, homework review, response-prevention reminders, client encouragement, and reduction of avoidance or reassurance behaviors within scope.Collect assigned scales, homework, attendance information, group materials, and client-support documentation accurately and on time.Maintain a safe, structured, clean, and therapeutic treatment-floor environment.Communicate client concerns, disengagement, risk statements, family concerns, or unusual behavior promptly to clinicians or BHT leadership.Participate in group support, activity setup, client redirection, de-escalation support, and crisis response within training and scope.Follow all confidentiality, privacy, safety, boundaries, attendance, conduct, documentation, and communication requirements.Participate in training, supervision, audits, and feedback to improve clinical support skills.Support Facility Coordinator and Front Desk with limited facility-flow tasks when assigned and appropriate.Perform other treatment support duties as assigned.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; some college or degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health, human services, or related field preferred.Experience in behavioral health, customer service, caregiving, education, group support, residential treatment, IOP/PHP, or related setting preferred.Ability to work with emotionally distressed clients and families while maintaining calm, boundaries, and professionalism.Completion of Company BHT training and required competencies within assigned timelines required.Ability to use electronic records, email, documents, schedules, and basic computer systems required.Must pass all required background checks and meet all Company, payer, licensing, and regulatory requirements.Skills and ExpertiseClient engagement, group support, exposure support, documentation, de-escalation assistance, teamwork, and communication.Ability to follow clinical direction and avoid operating outside role scope.Ability to stay active, positive, and organized throughout programming.Ability to recognize when a concern should be escalated immediately.Strong punctuality, reliability, humility, and willingness to learn.Physical DemandsAbility to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the facility during programming, meetings, groups, observations, and client-support activities.Ability to use a computer, electronic health record, phone, video platform, and standard office equipment for extended periods.Ability to occasionally lift or move office, clinical, or training materials up to 25 pounds, with reasonable accommodation as required by law.Ability to work in a behavioral health environment that may include emotionally distressed clients, family conflict, crisis escalation, and time-sensitive decisions.
