Job summary

Quest Behavioral Health seeks a dedicated Behavioral Health Tech to support residents and liaise with the Clinical Supervisor. In this in-person role, you will help ensure resident safety, assist with daily activities, monitor medication routines, and document procedures accurately.

The position requires high school or GED, and preferred experience in mental health settings. You will work various shifts including weekends and swing shifts, with compensation $19–$22 per hour in Lancaster, CA.

Responsibilities

• Maintain awareness of resident safety.
• Makes rounds and room checks as necessary.
• Searches belongings for contraband according to center policies and procedures.
• Assists residents in activities and encourages adherence to program rules.
• Completes forms for procedures.
• Assists in psychiatric and medical emergencies.
• Inventory personal belongings and manages medication checks.
• Reminds residents for meals and medications and ensures medication closet is secure.
• Provide transportation for activities and outings.
• Communicates concerns to clinical team and provides psychosocial support.

Behavioral Health Tech

Reports to: Clinical Supervisor

Position Responsibilities

The Behavioral Health Tech will act as a liaison between the Clinical Supervisor and the Residents. Overall responsibilities are ensuring that Resident’s needs are met by all staff members of Quest Behavioral Health.

Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain awareness of resident’s safety at all times.
• Makes rounds, room checks when if necessary
• Searches belongings for contraband, if appropriate, in a respectful manner, according to center policies and procedures.
• Participates and assists in client activities as assigned. Encourages all clients to follow program guidelines and rules.
• Completes appropriate forms for each procedure.
• Assists as directed in psychiatric and medical emergencies.
• Inventory personal belongings.
• Remind residents to come to meals and take medication.
• Make sure medication closet is closed at all times.
• Assist with Urine Drug Screens when directed.
• Check clients for medication compliance during medication intake (Watch for palming, pocketing and cheeking).
• Monitors meals.
• Pass out nourishment as directed.
• Assist with treatments as directed.
• Make copies and shred papers as needed.
• Gives appropriate feedback regarding the condition of clients to the Clinical Supervisor.
• Assures basic comfort measures are maintained.
• Provides for the psychosocial needs of clients.
• Communicates concerns of residents to appropriate member of clinical team.
• Provides forum for residents to allow to express themselves.
• Provides support or diversion consistent with interests and conditions of residents.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges residents as assigned.
• Pull all client related documentation from other areas and place in a chart.
• Inventory personal belongings.
• Document procedures.
• Provide transportation for activities and outings.

Employment Standards

Qualifications

• 18 years of age, or older;

• All direct care staff shall have graduated from high school or possess a GED and have a minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience, or its part-time equivalent, working in a program serving persons with mental disabilities.
• Must follow a plan of supervision if no experience as stated above and must follow the Resident Aid Supervision Guidelines as specified by the organization. (See Supervision Checklist)

Education

High School degree. Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field. preferred.

Experience

Experience as working with people oriented services.

Required Skills

Must have good organizational skills and leadership qualities. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
