Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital as a Behavioral Health Tech in the Inpatient Psychiatry department. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

With the leadership of the Director and the Clinical Supervisor, the Behavioral Health Tech will perform assigned supportive work in connection with the delivery of patient care, including functional tasks and skills. You will utilize interactive processes, which will exceed the expectation of patients, physicians, families or significant others, and provide high-quality, cost-effective care and treatment. Also, demonstrate necessary skills and knowledge to provide care for patients according to unit specific competencies as appropriate to the age of the patients served, as delineated in the Center’s Scope of Care.

Essential Job Functions

  • Know, follow, and actively support the philosophy, mission and vision of Ingalls Hospital. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures and standards of care.
  • Observe and adhere to all corporate compliance requirements and communicate issues, as they arise with the appropriate parties as identified in the Corporate Compliance Plan.
  • Work in partnership with other Patient Care Team members; pro-actively assist physicians and provide for individual patient and family needs.
  • Facilitates assigned groups in ways which encourage and require maximum patient participation and interaction, appropriate to functional level of group members.
  • Must have good knowledge of the principles and practice of psychiatric and addiction treatment.
  • Completes annual department competency checklist.
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills when dealing with patients, families, physicians, and co-workers; ability to function in an extended team environment and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • CPI certification required upon hire or within 60 days of hire.
  • High School diploma.
  • 2 years prior experience working with patients with addiction issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Behavioral Health or related experience providing care to patients within at least the last five years.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Position Details

  • Job Type/FTE: Full-Time, 0.9 FTE.
  • Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts (7a-7p).
  • Work Location: Onsite.
  • Unit/Department: Behavioral Health.
  • CBA Code: SEIU.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
