Utilizing proven, innovative, and progressive therapies, our qualified professionals strive to promote long-term wellness through a range of inpatient and outpatient psychiatric counseling and treatment options.

The Licensed Practical Nurse's primary role is to provide nursing care for patients experiencing common, well-defined health problems. The LPN functions as a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, utilizing the nursing process to implement patient care. Services are performed under the supervision of a registered nurse but require all nursing skills to make safe, appropriate, and independent decisions within the scope of LPN practice. Duties are performed in accordance with Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, Oceans' Mission, policies, procedures, and Performance Improvement Standards.

Essential Functions:
  1. Delivers quality nursing care to assigned patients by collecting data, identifying deviations from normal, and assisting with reassessment according to assignments, needs, and hospital protocols under RN guidance.
  2. Documents findings thoroughly in patient records, identifies expected outcomes based on assessments, and communicates pertinent findings to healthcare team members.
  3. Implements nursing interventions from the multidisciplinary treatment plan, performs procedures/treatments as prescribed by physicians, and collaborates with other healthcare providers.
  4. Conducts bedside laboratory tests, wound care, and assists with activities of daily living (ADLs).
  5. Supports patients in coping, adapting, and resolving issues related to illness and stressors.
  6. Provides age-appropriate, culturally sensitive communication and interventions, documenting any special needs.
  7. Administers medications safely according to policies and physician orders, assesses patients before and after medication administration, and educates patients about their medications.
  8. Follows up on patient care responsibilities, communicates needs and incomplete tasks, transcribes orders accurately, and performs chart audits.
  9. Utilizes nursing knowledge and resources to meet the needs of the facility, patients, and staff, promoting evidence-based practices.
  10. Provides leadership and education as a preceptor to new staff and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Current, valid, and active LVN/LPN license in the state of employment; Compact licenses accepted.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One year of inpatient hospital experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in high-stress environments, communicate effectively, and serve culturally diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of normal physical and emotional development; critical thinking skills; self-confidence; ability to lead.
  • CPR certification and Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation training required.

This position involves frequent interruptions, high-paced and stressful conditions, and exposure to various odors, sights, and unpredictable patient behaviors. Work is primarily indoors, with temperature variations possible.
