Job summary

Riverside Health System in Hampton, VA is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist to assist in providing comprehensive psychiatric and chemical dependency care. You will work under supervision to assess, plan, and implement care for patients across age groups.

Responsibilities include intake, collaboration with care teams, documentation, and ensuring patient safety while supporting activities of daily living. Competitive hourly pay and benefits align with experience.

Qualifications

Requires high school diploma or GED.
Minimum 1 year of behavioral health experience preferred.
CPR/BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Assesses and treats patients seeking psychiatric and/or chemical dependency treatment.
Communicates patient and family needs to physicians accurately and completely.
Familiarizes self with the plan of care and provides insights into care outcomes.
Collaborates with referral sources, patients, families, and team members regarding care coordination.
Provides follow-up actions as needed.
Serves as initial contact for patients, families, referral sources and allied agencies.
Completes intake screenings and reports reflecting patient status and age-specific needs.
Performs vital signs and mini-mental status exams.
Leads patients in therapeutic activities and monitors wellbeing.
