Job summary

Riverside Health System in Hampton, Virginia seeks a Behavioral Health Aide to support psychiatric and chemical dependency patients. Under nursing supervision, you will assist with intake, safety checks, and daily living activities while monitoring patient needs. Education: High School Diploma or GED (preferred).

CPR/BLS and First Aid within 30 days. About 1 year of behavioral health experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; preferred.
• 1 year Behavioral health experience (Preferred).
• CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association within 30 Days(Required)
• First Aid - American Heart Association within 30 Days(Required)

Responsibilities

• Assesses and treats children, adolescents, and adults seeking psychiatric and/or chemical dependency treatment.
• Communicates patient, resident, family needs to physicians accurately and completely.
• Familiarizes self with the plan of care and provides relevant insight into overall success or areas of improvement.
• Collaborate with referral sources, patients, families, and team members regarding care coordination.
• Provides follow-up actions as needed.
• Serves as the initial contact for patients, families, referral sources and/or allied agencies seeking intervention or support.
• Provides complete and accurate Intake Screening Reports of the patient and/or caller complaint and condition.
• Completes vital sign checks, mini-mental status exams, belonging checks.
• Leads patients in therapeutic and recreational activities.
• Monitors patients' physical and emotional wellbeing and reports unusual behavior or physical ailments to the medical staff.
• Is able to observe patients for safety as directed by RN/ LPN to include rounding, direct observation, sitters.
• Assists patient with activities of daily living to include hygiene, laundry, dressing, personal care as needed.
