Job summary

Cone Health Medical Group is seeking a Mental Health Technician Nurse Secretary to support psychiatric patients under Trauma Informed Care, following the RN's directions and established treatment plans. Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Nursing Assistant Certificate or related degree preferred.
• One year in behavioral health or healthcare preferred.
• BLS/CPR and STARR de-escalation must be completed within 30 days of hire.
• NCPT Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe and report changes to the Registered Nurse to adjust care plans.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families, including through patient education groups.
• Perform safety checks and environmental rounds; document progress for RN.
• Check supply stocks to meet patient and nursing needs within budgetary constraints.
• Support patient care as delegated by the RN, including vitals, capillary glucose, preparing EKGs, transporting patients, and assisting with ambulation.
• Respond to verbal and nonverbal communication from psychiatric patients with empathy and responsiveness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
