Job summary

Saint Joseph Medical Center - Joliet is seeking a Mental Health Counselor to join the Behavioral Health Unit in Joliet, IL. The role focuses on emotional support, crisis intervention and coordinating care within an interdisciplinary team.

This position requires a strong foundation in psychosocial assessment, discharge planning and documentation, with a commitment to patient- and family-centered care. Full-time days with rotating weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related required.
• Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field preferred.
• Current registration or intern status with the appropriate board.
• Current BLS certification upon hire and maintained.
• Minimum one year inpatient or outpatient behavioral health experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional support, crisis intervention and counseling.
• Provide information and referrals for patients and families.
• Coordinate discharge planning and case management within the interdisciplinary team.
• Complete psychosocial assessments and document clinical records.
• Support milieu management and treatment planning throughout length of stay.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related

Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field

Current licensure/registration (intern acceptable)

Current BLS certification

Minimum one year inpatient/outpatient behavioral health experience
