Job summary

Carilion Clinic is seeking a Behavioral Health Security Officer, CRMH, full-time, to provide security services across the health system including Emergency departments and inpatient units. The role emphasizes de-escalation, safety, and collaboration with care teams in emotionally charged situations.

Requires 3+ years in security or behavioral health, BLS, and a high school diploma; a criminal justice degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Criminal justice degree or related field preferred.
• 3+ years security or behavioral health experience required.
• BLS certification or Life Support is required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor safety and security in assigned units and areas.
• Intervene in escalating verbal exchanges and provide non-physical de-escalation.
• Provide appropriate physical intervention if needed and safe.
• Support clinical staff and care teams while maintaining compassionate service.
