Job summary

Mass General Brigham - Salem Hospital is seeking a dedicated Safety Professional for behavioral health settings to develop, implement, and monitor safety policies, procedures, and trainings that protect patients, staff, and visitors.

You will collaborate with clinical teams, security, and multiple departments to conduct risk assessments, manage incidents, and provide crisis intervention and de-escalation coaching to bedside staff.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Mental Health & Behavioral Medicine or related field required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2-3 years of experience in a behavioral health setting with focus on safety/risk management encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and update safety policies and procedures for behavioral health settings.
• Ensure protocols comply with regulatory standards and best practices for patient and staff safety.
• Conduct regular risk assessments to identify safety hazards and implement mitigation strategies.
• Monitor incidents and near-misses, analyze trends, and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide safety training and education to staff, including crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to and manage behavioral health-related incidents and emergencies, including patient aggression or self-harm.
• Provide support to patients and staff during and after safety incidents, ensuring emotional and psychological well-being.
