Job summary

National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs, AR, seeks an Intake & Assessment Clinician (RN) for Behavioral Health to perform risk-based assessments, triage, and coordinate with mental health professionals for timely admissions and treatment.

The RN will provide compassionate nursing care, advocate for patients, and collaborate with the clinical team to develop and implement treatment plans while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing or relevant state licensure required
• Current unencumbered license to practice by the State Board of Nursing, valid driver's license preferred
• Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience in chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred
• Basic Life Support certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days

Responsibilities

• Receives inquiry calls and assists the caller with scheduling a face-to-face, phone, or tele-assessment
• Triage individuals based on safety risk
• Assesses or ensures assessment by a qualified mental health professional
• Screens for medical and behavioral emergency conditions
• Performs a comprehensive assessment and quality therapeutic care to patients seeking treatment for substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric or emotional disorders
• Coordinates with the clinical team/on-call physician to ensure needs are met at the facility or other appropriate community providers
• Interprets treatment to patient and family to reduce fear and improve acceptance of care
• Completes admission and precertification processes with external payers as necessary
• Administers nursing care to ill or injured persons and delivers quality general and psychiatric nursing care
• Ensures safety and well-being of each patient and follows medical orders and treatment plans
• Acts as patient advocate at all times
