Job summary

Baton Rouge General Medical Center is seeking an experienced RN to support mental health care with strong clinical judgment and compassionate patient interaction. The ideal candidate will have 1 year of psychiatric experience, be a graduate of an accredited nursing program, and hold Louisiana

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Louisiana RN licensure required.
• Psychiatric‑Mental Health Certification encouraged/preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care processes including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and support services.
• Collect and prioritize patient health data through comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments.
• Identify nursing diagnoses and determine patient‑centered outcomes.
• Develop individualized interdisciplinary plans of care using current nursing standards.
• Implement nursing interventions, administer treatments and medications, and coordinate care with support services.
• Provide education to patients and families and plan for discharge.
• Evaluate patient progress and revise plans of care accordingly.
• Document all assessments, interventions, and evaluations thoroughly.
• Conduct groups and maintain a safe therapeutic environment.
• Attend staffing to update treatment plans.
• Respond appropriately to emergency seclusion and restraint situations in compliance with regulations.
