Job summary

Baton Rouge General Medical Center is seeking a dedicated registered nurse with strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills to join our psychiatric care team. This role emphasizes coordination of patient care, collaboration with physicians and support services, and delivery of compassionate, patient-centered care in a secure environment.

1 year of psychiatric experience preferred. Current Louisiana RN licensure is required, and Psychiatric-Mental Health Certification or Addiction

Qualifications

• Current Louisiana RN licensure required.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Psychiatric-Mental Health Certification encouraged/preferred.
• Addiction Certification encouraged/preferred.
• Familiarity with HIPAA and safety regulations and practices.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care processes including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and support services.
• Collect and prioritize patient health data through comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments.
• Identify nursing diagnoses and determine patient-centered outcomes.
• Develop individualized interdisciplinary plans of care using current nursing standards.
• Implement nursing interventions, administer treatments and medications, and coordinate care with support services.
• Provide education to patients and families and plan for discharge.
• Evaluate patient progress and revise plans of care accordingly.
• Document all assessments, interventions, and evaluations thoroughly.
• Conduct groups and maintain a safe therapeutic environment.
• Attend staffings to update treatment plans.
• Respond appropriately to emergency seclusion and restraint situations in compliance with regulations.
