Job summary

Baton Rouge General Medical Center is seeking an experienced RN to support mental health care with strong clinical judgment and compassionate patient interaction. This role emphasizes collaboration with physicians and support staff, patient education, and safe, evidence-based care, with opportunities for professional development and a comprehensive benefits program.

The ideal candidate will have 1 year of psychiatric experience, be a graduate of an accredited nursing program, and hold Louisiana

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current Louisiana RN licensure required.
• Psychiatric‑Mental Health Certification encouraged/preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care processes including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and support services.
• Collect and prioritize patient health data through comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments.
• Identify nursing diagnoses and determine patient‑centered outcomes.
• Develop individualized interdisciplinary plans of care using current nursing standards.
• Implement nursing interventions, administer treatments and medications, and coordinate care with support services.
• Provide education to patients and families and plan for discharge.
• Evaluate patient progress and revise plans of care accordingly.
• Document all assessments, interventions, and evaluations thoroughly.
• Conduct groups and maintain a safe therapeutic environment.
• Attend staffing to update treatment plans.
• Respond appropriately to emergency seclusion and restraint situations in compliance with regulations.
