Job summary

North Port Behavioral Health in North Port, FL is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide 24-hour inpatient care for adolescents and adults with behavioral health and substance use disorders. You will perform assessments, create care plans, document in medical records, administer medications, and ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining therapeutic rapport with patients and families.

The role requires a state RN license and CPR certification with de-escalation training; 12-hour shifts,

Qualifications

• Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
• Must possess a current Registered Nurse (RN) license as required by the state of employment or be eligible to practice nursing in accordance with state requirements
• One year of nursing experience; psychiatric/behavioral or SUD experience a plus
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate care by assessing patients’ physical and behavioral health needs.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions.
• Provide nursing care and services within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined by state regulations and facility policies.
• Ensure physicians’ orders are legible and transcribed per policy.
• Ensure patient status is assessed continuously and documented.
• Notify physicians of significant changes in status.
• Complete initial and discharge planning per procedures.
• Demonstrate universal precautions in direct patient care.
• Accurately administer medications and document controlled substances.
• Maintain therapeutic rapport with patients and staff.
