Summary: The duties of this position include both traditional clinical therapy and therapy utilizing the Primary Care Behavioral Health model (PCBH). This includes development and implementation of therapeutic treatment plans in an integrated setting by performing the following duties and appropriately assigning and/or treating the patient based on the level of need and nature of the primary care and behavioral health provider consults.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Partners with members of the care team to provide behavioral health in a PCBH model.
- Assesses patients presenting to primary care setting and determines treatment and/or resources needed.
- Utilizes a variety of evidenced based techniques as appropriate to each individual patient.
- Performs brief assessments and crisis interventions to develop a safety response plan tailored to fit the patients needs.
- Provides individual and/or family therapy services utilizing brief interventions in an integrated model of care.
- Plans and administers therapeutic treatment to assist patients in managing symptoms and underlying stressors.
- Develops and documents treatment plans tailored to the individual. Evaluates treatment plans and makes adjustments according to patient progress and adheres to COMAR regulations to review and document the treatment plan every 6 months.
- Facilitates transition of care between PCP and Behavioral health services.
- Documents visits within 24 hours and adheres to COMAR regulations.
- Maintains highest quality patient care by providing a safe environment through ethical and professional conduct in which the patient can explore concerns and issues.
- Functions well in a fast-paced environment, often providing multiple 16-30-minute sessions.
- Displays the ability to compassionately and empathetically care for patients.
- Assists in the continued development and growth of the Mountain Laurel Medical Center behavioral health program.
- Provides excellent patient centered customer service while being friendly and courteous to all employees and patients.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated work record showing good attendance, punctuality, dependability and the ability to work as member of a team with supervisors, and other co-workers in an appropriate professional manner. Must have strong communication, planning and organizing skills; additionally, must possess the ability to multi-task, and demonstrate great attention to detail.
Education/Experience
Licensed Certified Social Worker Clinical (LCSW-C), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PsyD), preferred. Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) must be working on clinical licensure. Current drivers license is required.
Communication Skills
Be able to effectively communicate in one-on-one and/or small group discussions. Display clear and effective documentation skills that meet COMAR regulations.
Understanding Of Health Care Laws And Regulations
Must have the ability to follow HIPAA guidelines as well as an understanding of policies and procedures regarding medical records put in place by the Federal Government.
Reasoning Ability
Must be able to demonstrate the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Team Work
An essential element is the ability to work and interact effectively and positively with other staff members to build and enhance teamwork in a patient centered team-based model of care and in the overall MLMC organization; team engagement is a must to be successful in this position.
Work Record
A demonstrated work record showing good attendance, punctuality, dependability and the ability to work well with supervisors and coworkers as part of a team effort is essential. A medical office setting is an environment that requires the ability to relate to all types of people while always maintaining a professional demeanor.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals is essential. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and the ability to speak effectively to patients, co-workers and the public at large is paramount.
Additional Skills
Must have the ability to read and interpret medical and work environment related documents involving patient care, program descriptions, government regulations and MLMC policy and procedures.
Sensitivity To Needs Of Special Populations
Must be able to demonstrate an understanding and sensitivity to cultural differences and needs of MLMC patients and be able to respond appropriately to all people regardless of race, ethnicity, language, age, sex or sexual orientation, religion, disability, economic standing, etc.
Physical Demands
The work environment is a typical outpatient medical clinic. While performing the duties of this job, candidates may be required to drive, sit for extended periods, spend time standing and walking, handle considerable paperwork, operate computers, lift up to 15-pound boxes of supplies and assist patients who may have limited mobility.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a typical, outpatient clinic environment and possibly at locations outside the office. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
