Job summary

Mayor and City Council of Baltimore seeks a Service Specialist to provide targeted support to youth and adults facing behavioral and social challenges. You will assess needs, plan interventions, and coordinate services with families, schools, and community partners.

Responsibilities include crisis response, collaborative case management, and progress monitoring within a multidisciplinary team to promote stability and positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, criminal justice, education, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience with at-risk youth, adults, families, or vulnerable populations.
• Crisis intervention and case management experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and non-traditional hours.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify behavioral, emotional, social, and environmental needs.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized intervention plans.
• Provide direct one-on-one and group interventions using evidence-based practices.
• Deliver crisis intervention and de-escalation support as needed.
• Collaborate with families, caregivers, educators, case managers, and community providers.
• Track and document progress with timely case notes.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case reviews.
• Connect participants to community resources and supportive services.
• Provide advocacy within schools, courts, community, or social services systems.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
