Job summary

Mercy is seeking an Intake Specialist to serve as a key connection point for individuals seeking behavioral health and substance use services. You will conduct screenings, verify insurance, coordinate referrals and admissions, provide crisis support, and connect patients with appropriate levels of care and community resources.

You will work in a compassionate, service-oriented environment, ensuring timely access to treatment while upholding Mercy's mission and service standards.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related mental health field.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of behavioral health experience.
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct behavioral health screenings for patients in Emergency Department, Intake Department, and other hospital settings.
• Gather clinical, demographic, and insurance information to support care coordination and treatment recommendations.
• Assist with insurance verification and pre-certification processes.
• Coordinate assessments, admissions, and transfers by communicating with physicians and treatment teams.
• Provide education on treatment options and community resources; support patients and families during crisis or uncertainty.
