Job summary

Mercy Springfield is hiring an Intake Specialist to provide behavioral health and substance use assessments for patients in the Emergency Department and other hospital areas. You will coordinate care, assist with insurance pre-certification, and connect patients to community resources.

The role involves crisis intervention, education for patients and families, and collaboration with clinicians and care teams to ensure timely access to appropriate treatment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work or related mental health field is required.
• Minimum 2–3 years of behavioral health experience is preferred.
• Licensed clinical credentials such as LCSW or LPC are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct behavioral health assessments and crisis intervention for ED, intake and other hospital areas.
• Coordinate admissions and referrals with treatment teams and community resources.
• Assist with insurance pre-certification and documentation of patient information.
• Provide patient and family education on treatment options and follow-up steps.
• Maintain timely, accurate records and ensure regulatory compliance.
