Job summary

Mercy seeks an Intake Specialist to provide behavioral health assessments, crisis intervention, referral coordination, and patient support across Emergency and Intake departments. The role focuses on timely access to services, compassion, and confidentiality.

The Evening Shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, every other weekend) emphasizes accurate documentation, care coordination, and collaboration with clinical teams to support patient needs and ensure quality care.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field required.
• 2-3 years of behavioral health experience required.
• LCSW or LPC licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mental health and substance use assessments in ED, Intake and other hospital settings.
• Provide crisis intervention and support for behavioral health emergencies.
• Coordinate admissions, referrals, and transfers with treatment teams and community resources.
• Accurately document assessments, referrals, and outcomes in EMR.
• Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and referral partners.
