Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse in Behavioral Health Emergency Screening at RWJ University Hospital New Brunswick. The role supports rapid assessment, safe medication administration, and patient-centered care in a fast-paced ER setting.

You will collaborate with physicians and nurses, document in EPIC EMR, and participate in rounds and continuing education to advance patient outcomes and professional growth within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing.
• American Heart Association BLS certification with at least 1 year of RN experience in Behavioral Health.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing strongly preferred or to be completed within 5 years of hire.
• ACLS certification preferred or to be obtained within 6 months of employment.
• Prior RN experience in Emergency Department or Behavioral Health or Psychiatric setting preferred; EMR experience with EPIC.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and recognize clinical changes to intervene early.
• Administer safe, evidence-based medications and hands-on care.
• Collaborate with physicians and advanced providers to coordinate care decisions.
• Educate patients and families clearly to ensure understanding and preparedness.
• Document accurately and timely in the EMR to promote continuity of care.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds to improve communication and transitions of care.
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment with shared accountability.
