Behavioral Health Crisis Qualified Professional (QP)
We are hiring a positive and personable Behavioral Health Specialist to provide support to individuals with intellectual, developmental disabilities, and those facing mental health and substance use challenges. This full‑time position is Monday‑to‑Friday, 12pmto8pm, and works in residential, school, workplace, and community settings.
Interventions are strength‑based, focusing on recovery, symptom reduction, increased coping skills, and the highest level of community functioning. Staffing ratios consider evening and weekend hours and special population needs.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, monitor, and revise Person‑Centered Plans with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Facilitate relationships and serve as a link between the organization, families, local agencies, and the community.
- Minimize negative effects of psychiatric symptoms or substance dependence that interfere with daily living and personal development through supportive counseling.
- Support clients in developing skill‑building activities: daily and community living skills, socialization, adaptation, behavior and anger management.
- Participate in a 24/7/365 first‑responder on‑call system, coordinating “first response” resources as needed.
- Perform case‑management functions of linking and arranging for services and referrals.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to maintain communication, provide feedback, standardize procedures, and expedite PCP implementation.
- Ensure timely initial and reauthorization of services and monitor utilization to maintain effectiveness and compliance with regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (non‑Human Services) with ≥4years full‑time experience with the population, or
- Bachelor’s degree (Human Services field) with ≥2years full‑time experience, or
- Master’s degree or higher with ≥1year full‑time experience.
- License, provisional license, certificate, registration or permit issued by the governing board regulating the human services profession.
- Proficiency in CPR and other life‑safety certifications.
- Physical ability to lift 10–15lbs, pull 10lbs, squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, stoop, and stand/walk regularly.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting: regular lifting of 10lbs; able to lift a minimum of 15lbs; pull minimum of 10lbs.
- Movement: able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, stoop; stand and walk regularly.
- Hands: use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Other: proficient in CPR, meet vision and hearing requirements.
