Job summary

AdventHealth in Denver, CO is seeking a Behavioral Health Counselor to join our nightshift team. You will facilitate individual, group, and family counseling and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patients’ emotional, spiritual, and psychological health.

Responsibilities include developing progress records, applying DSM criteria, educating patients and families about treatment options, and ensuring patient safety through established protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Health or related field is required.
• Competence with DSM diagnostic criteria and treatment planning is required.
• EAP knowledge and experience is preferred for EAP program positions.

Job Description:

• Recognizes the influence of beliefs and cultures on behaviors and identifies possible communication barriers.
• Facilitates individual, group, and family counseling as well as psycho-educational groups to promote patient emotional, spiritual, and psychological health.
• Works with interdisciplinary teams to formulate and implement patient care using insight, limit setting, support, goal setting, and other techniques.
• Evaluates for potential safety risks appropriately and responds to potentially dangerous situations to ensure patient safety in the least restrictive manner. Demonstrates working knowledge of the involuntary commitment process. Recognizes and reports suspected abuse/neglect in patients of all age groups according to guidelines.
• Develops, prepares, and maintains individualized patient progress records with accuracy and timeliness.
• Utilizes knowledge in the assessment of physical, psycho-social, environmental, spiritual, and financial factors to achieve healthcare goals.
• Educates patients and families about behavioral health conditions and treatment options.
• Other duties as assigned.
