Job summary

The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) seeks a Behavioral Health Consultant OPS in the Northeast Regional Office, located in Jacksonville. The role focuses on identifying and addressing behavioral health conditions in parents within the child welfare system, with emphasis on opioid use and other substance misuse disorders.

You will collaborate with CPIs and dependency case managers to build staff expertise and improve access to treatment and recovery supports.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a health or human services‑related field.
• Three years of experience treating substance use disorders.
• Valid Class E Driver License.
• Preference for Florida license in psychology, social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, or as a registered intern.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical expertise to identify parents with behavioral health conditions in the child welfare system, with emphasis on opioid use and other substance misuse disorders.
• Consult with CPIs and dependency case managers to build staff expertise and engagement with families; assist in identifying behavioral health disorders and treatment options.
• Partner with investigative staff to provide consultations and ensure access to treatment, referrals, and safety planning.
• Maintain knowledge of community mental health and substance use providers; facilitate referrals and collaborations with ME and other partners.
• Track referrals and entry into treatment for parents with behavioral health disorders; participate in multidisciplinary meetings as needed.
