Job summary

ATHENA Consulting is hiring a Behavioral Health Case Manager in Hanover, MD, offering a full-time hybrid role with 1-2 office days per month. The position focuses on telephonic case management for behavioral health and substance use needs, requiring licensure and 3+ years of clinical experience. Compensation ranges from $32-$37 per hour.

The role emphasizes coordination with providers, cross-functional collaboration, and ongoing care plan optimization within a long-term temporary assignment.

Qualifications

• Requires MA/MS in social work counseling or related behavioral health field or nursing degree with a minimum of 3 years of clinical social work experience.
• Current active unrestricted license to practice as health professional in applicable states (RN/LCSW/LMHC/LICSW/LPC/LMSW/LGPC/LMFT)
• Previous case management and telephonic/in-person coaching experience with diverse psychiatric/substance use disorders.
• Managed care experience required; government roles may accept LAPC/LAMFT where allowed by state laws.
• Health coaching and motivational interviewing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responds to complex cases and account-specific requests.
• Uses screening criteria, clinical judgment to assess member needs.
• Assesses, develops and updates care plans addressing identified objectives.
• Monitors and evaluates care plan effectiveness; ensures access to quality care.
• Coordinates with internal/external resources and collaborates with providers.
• Serves as a resource to other BH Case Managers and participates in team projects.
