Job summary

AdventHealth in Kansas is seeking a part-time Night Behavioral Health Technician to support therapeutic care and patient safety. The role involves observing and responding to patient needs, delivering trauma-informed care, and coordinating with nursing staff to maintain a calm unit environment.

Required is a Bachelor's degree with Behavioral Health focus; preferred are related experience and licenses such as Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and BLS CPR.

• 1+ position-related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Creates a therapeutic environment for safe treatment implementation.
• Performs observation rounds and documents in real time.
• Observes patients and reports observations to the RN or clinician.
• Implements patient-centered and trauma-informed care.
• Identifies escalation signs and de-escalates when needed.
• Intervenes with violent, potentially violent, or suicidal patients as required.
• Assists with orientation, daily group activities, and environmental rounds.
• Performs environmental checks and reports unsafe conditions.

Shift:

7am - 730pm/Two 12-hour shifts/Rotate every 3rd weekend

Creates and supports a therapeutic environment for safe treatment implementation. Performs observation rounds on assigned patients, documenting in real time in order to detect behavior patterns. Observes patients to detect behavior patterns and report observations and concerns to the Registered Nurse or behavioral health clinician. Utilizes clear and positive communication skills to assess and provide therapeutic intervention for patients' and families' needs and concerns. Implements patient-centered care and trauma-informed care. Identifies early signs of escalation in patients and effectively de-escalates. Intervenes to intervene with violent, potentially violent, or suicidal patients as required, and monitors patients according to policy guidelines. Orients patients and families to the unit. Manages or assists with daily group activities. Performs environmental rounds per policy and report unsafe conditions. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to communicate appropriately, professionally, and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals [Required]
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry [Required]
• Up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and local, state, and national laws [Required]
• Proficiency in computer systems to enter and track patient records [Required]
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
• Must be able to read, write, and speak conversational English [Required]
