Job summary

Summit BHC in Las Cruces, NM is seeking a Behavioral Health Associate I to work onsite under the supervision of a licensed nurse. You will monitor patient behaviors, provide direct care, assist with daily living activities, and participate in crisis response as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required are a high school diploma and CPR/de-escalation certification; six months of relevant experience is preferred. This role emphasizes safety, documentation, and supportive patient interactions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months or more experience with the population preferred.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required.
• First aid may be required based on state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the wellbeing of patients and provides a safe, positive, supportive, and structured environment under supervision.
• Assists clients with activities of daily living (toileting, bathing, dressing, meals, hydration).
• Conducts safety checks with appropriate supervision intervals.
• Checks patients for contraband and manages valuables and belongings.
• Interacts with patients, observes behaviors, and communicates significant observations to supervisor.
• Engages patients in activities that support treatment goals and independent living skills.
• Facilitates educational-rehabilitative groups on social skills and coping strategies.
• Takes and records vital signs and communicates changes to the clinical team.
• Charts in patient records timely and accurately.
