Job summary

Summit BHC in Las Cruces, NM seeks a Lead Behavioral Health Associate to support a licensed nurse, oversee patient care, and model safety and treatment goals in a busy crisis center. You will supervise BHAs, assist with daily living activities, conduct safety checks, lead educational groups, document observations, and coordinate admissions and transfers.

Requires CPR and crisis-intervention certification, high school diploma, and 2+ years in a BHA role with this population.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• At least two years’ experience as a BHA required.
• Two or more years’ experience working with the specific population of the facility required.
• Knowledge of common psychiatric disorders and treatment modalities required.
• Exceptional knowledge of verbal de-escalation and crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the wellbeing of patients and provides a safe, positive environment under supervision.
• Oversees activities of daily living and assists with personal care and meals.
• Performs safety checks and documents observations to guide treatment.
• Interacts with patients, reports significant changes to supervisor, and leads groups.
• Takes vital signs, charts in patient records, and uses de-escalation techniques as needed.
• Assists with admissions, discharges, and coordination of transfers with staff.
• Mentors BHAs, delegates tasks, and supports shift leadership as lead.
