Responsibilities

• Communicates with parents, schools, teachers, and patients regarding progress of assignments during hospitalization.
• Maintains classroom discipline by guiding children with appropriate voices and actions.
• Provides direct supervision to the children at all times.
• Assists with classroom instructional activities under the Primary Teacher.
• May provide individual therapy-based teaching strategies for mental health needs.
• Helps parents retrieve assignments and plan for return to school.
• Promotes a safe learning environment for all students and staff.
• Uses de-escalation techniques during classroom time when applicable.
• Assists on the unit with patient care and outdoor/therapeutic activities.
