Job summary

Carle Health in Peoria, IL seeks an Assistant Teacher to support pediatric patients during behavioral health hospitalization. You will work with the Primary Teacher to coordinate classroom activities and facilitate enrollment and re-entry to school after discharge.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree, CPI and BLS certifications within specified timeframes, and at least one year of education or teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• CPI within 3 Months.
• BLS within 30 Days.
• One year Education/Training or Teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with parents, schools, teachers, and patients regarding progress of assignments during hospitalization.
• Maintains classroom discipline and supervises children.
• Provides direct supervision and assists in instructional activities under the Primary Teacher.
• May provide individual therapy-based teaching strategies to meet mental health and developmental needs.
• Helps with preparing assignments for hospitalized students returning to school.
• Uses de-escalation techniques and supports crisis intervention.
• Assists in patient care activities on the unit when applicable.
