Job summary

Hillcrest Commons Nursing & Rehab Center is seeking a Behavioral Health Aide to support residents on the behavioral unit. You will help promote a structured environment, assist with daily living activities, and participate in therapeutic programming under the direction of the Program Director/Assistant.

Ideal candidates hold a valid CNA certification, with a willingness to complete required training within 120 days.

Qualifications

• C.N.A certification is required.
• 1 year experience working in a Behavioral Health/Long Term Care setting preferred.
• Must complete CNA program and obtain certification within 120 days of hire through facility funded classes.

Responsibilities

• As a Behavioral Health Aide, provide care and support to residents.
• Assist on the unit and provide behavioral support when needed.
• Provide personal care, chart activity logs, and monitor residents’ behavior.
• Maintain safety standards and act as a positive role model for residents.
• Plan and participate in group activities and therapeutic programming.

Under the direction of the Program Director/Assistant, the Behavioral Health Aide provides support to all residents on the behavioral unit. The Behavioral Aide helps to promote a highly structured environment for residents daily, with the goal of improving the individual’s behavior/quality of life.

As a Behavioral Health Aide, you will:

• Be expected to maintain a current and valid CNA Certification in Massachusetts
• Work with residents having various mental health needs and/or aggressive behaviors
• Assist on the unit and provide behavioral support when needed.
• Provide therapeutic programming (running group activities etc)
• Chart activity logs
• Monitor hallways and provide redirection to residents if needed.
• Act as a role model for residents (pro-social behavior, group participation)
• Maintain safety standards for residents at all times.
• Monitor, record and document observations of resident’s behavior.
• Provide personal care to residents if needed (I.e. toileting, feeding, positioning)
• Instruct and counsel residents on positive behavioral aspects.
• Maintain and manage clean and safe environment for residents.

Pay Rate: $20 - $24 per hour

Weekend and Evening shift differentials available

Current CNA Certification Required
