Job summary

South San Antonio Independent School District seeks a Special Education Behavior Unit Teacher for a multi-location campus in San Antonio, Texas. You will design learning activities, develop or modify curricula, and implement IEP-driven programs for students with special needs.

The role requires collaboration with ARD committees, ongoing assessment, and close coordination with teachers, families, and support staff to support student growth and safety in the classroom.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
• Master degree in content preferred.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned.
• Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
• Satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check (non-refundable fee paid by employee).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and other staff to develop IEP through ARD for each student assigned.
• Implement an instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program and show written evidence of preparation.
• Assess student learning styles and plan appropriate instructional strategies and materials.
• Present subject matter according to IEP guidelines using diverse media and technology.
• Work with classroom teachers to modify regular curricula and assist special education students in regular classes.
• Participate in ARD Committee meetings on a regular basis.
• Participate in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional media.
