Job summary

Achievement Behavior Services is seeking a Behavior Technician to work in home-based ABA sessions with children on the autism spectrum. The role offers a flexible part-time schedule after school and occasional weekend work, with supervision from BCBA-level leaders in our professional network.

You will implement ABA strategies, document progress, and collaborate closely with families and the clinical team as you move through an individualized Behavior Intervention Plan designed to promote

  • Active RBT certification is preferred or required by some families.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • 1:1 in-home client sessions with a student, under BCBA supervision.
  • Document progress notes and data points as per BIP.
  • Use ABA techniques (DTT, prompting, modeling, redirection) to support learning.
  • Maintain thorough session documentation and billing records.
  • Collaborate with BCBA supervisors and communicate with caregivers and team.

About Achievement Behavior Servies (ABS):

We are an agency that was founded ten years ago, in 2015, by the joint efforts of dedicated BCBAs and LCSWs. We have a successful history of supporting children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families with direct, in-home/in-community ABA therapeutic services. Our approach uses the principles and practices of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to mentor and support these children towards increasing their communication, adaptability, resilience, and independence.

    In the role of a Behavior Technician, you will work directly, one-on-one, with the child in their natural, home environment. You will be supported by a lead, board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) while you move through the individualized Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) that was scribed to help the student experience increased success in communication, focus, and positively adapting behaviors.

Daily Expectations of a Behavior Technician:
  • Engaging rapport building and curiosity to find creative solutions to help a student more effectively communicate their needs, wants, and feelings

  • Measure, assess, and document skill acquisition of student's progress on the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)

  • 1:1 Goal-oriented, in home, direct service work with a student involving implementation of ABA approaches including but not limited to discrete trial teaching, prompting, modeling, redirection, reinforcements, and reward-systems.

  • Thorough and comprehensive session-to-session documentation, data analysis, and billing.

  • Actively engaging with clinical direction and professional feedback from BCBA supervisor(s)

  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients or students, caregivers, supervisors, and coworkers

The Qualifications:
  • Most Relevant Areas of Study: Applied Behavior Analysis, psychology, Special education, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology

  • Preferred: Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board

  • Strong and multi-tiered stakeholder communication skills required

  • Adaptability and decisiveness under high-stress situations

  • Exhibits professional administrative reliability: punctuality and responsiveness

  • Proven experience working with pre-school and elementary school-aged children

  • Additional evidence of successful work with patients suffering from Autism and development issues

  • Other experience, certificates, or qualifications as required by NY State.

  • Intuitive, engaging, compassionate, and person-centered approaches

  • Proven experience with documenting progress notes and data points aligning with individualized treatment plans and goals

  • Structured and creative play skills
