Job summary

Achievement Behavior Servies (ABS) seeks a part-time Behavior Technician to work one-on-one with children in their home environment under the supervision of a BCBA. The role emphasizes applying ABA principles to enhance communication, focus, and adaptive behaviors, with training and support from senior staff.

Responsibilities include data collection, progress documentation, and collaboration with families and ABS leadership.

Qualifications

• Areas of study include Applied Behavior Analysis, psychology, Special Education, Occupational Therapy and Speech Language Pathology.
• Active RBT certification is preferred for this role.
• Strong communication and collaboration with families and school staff required.

Responsibilities

• Engage in 1:1 ABA sessions with students in home settings.
• Document progress notes and data points per BAS/BIP.
• Implement ABA techniques under BCBA supervision and guidance.
• Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and team members.
• Maintain thorough session documentation and billing records.

About Achievement Behavior Servies (ABS):

We are an agency that was founded ten years ago, in 2015, by the joint efforts of dedicated BCBAs and LCSWs. We have a successful history of supporting children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families with direct, in-home/in-community ABA therapeutic services. Our approach uses the principles and practices of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to mentor and support these children towards increasing their communication, adaptability, resilience, and independence.

• In the role of a Behavior Technician, you will work directly, one-on-one, with the child in their natural, home environment. You will be supported by a lead, board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) while you move through the individualized Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) that was scribed to help the student experience increased success in communication, focus, and positively adapting behaviors.

Daily Expectations of a Behavior Technician:

• Engaging rapport building and curiosity to find creative solutions to help a student more effectively communicate their needs, wants, and feelings
• Measure, assess, and document skill acquisition of student's progress on the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)
• 1:1 Goal-oriented, in home, direct service work with a student involving implementation of ABA approaches including but not limited to discrete trial teaching, prompting, modeling, redirection, reinforcements, and reward-systems.
• Thorough and comprehensive session-to-session documentation, data analysis, and billing.
• Actively engaging with clinical direction and professional feedback from BCBA supervisor(s)
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients or students, caregivers, supervisors, and coworkers

The Qualifications:

• Most Relevant Areas of Study: Applied Behavior Analysis, psychology, Special education, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology
• Preferred: Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
• Strong and multi-tiered stakeholder communication skills required
• Adaptability and decisiveness under high-stress situations
• Exhibits professional administrative reliability: punctuality and responsiveness
• Proven experience working with pre-school and elementary school-aged children
• Additional evidence of successful work with patients suffering from Autism and development issues
• Other experience, certificates, or qualifications as required by NY State.
• Intuitive, engaging, compassionate, and person-centered approaches
• Proven experience with documenting progress notes and data points aligning with individualized treatment plans and goals
• Structured and creative play skills
