Its goal is to prepare well-educated, qualified, and competent direct-service psychologists who have a special commitment to direct community involvement and to underserved populations—professionals who can integrate scientific knowledge with innovation in the delivery of psychological services to individuals, families, groups, and organizations. Professionals receiving a doctoral degree in psychology should be capable of extending psychological knowledge and exhibiting the high level of analytic skills and theoretical understanding needed to use existing and emerging psychological knowledge.

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Behavior Technician (Outreach) for the GSAPP – Douglass Developmental Disabailities Center.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Implements a variety of behavior analytic strategies to support successful outcomes for children with autism across the areas of skill acquisition and/or behavior reduction in home-based settings.
  • Collects, interprets and, with oversight from the board certified behavior analyst ( BCBA ), analyzes behavioral data.
  • Contributes to the development of behavior analytic instructional programming under the supervision of a Behavior Analyst.
  • High School diploma or equivalent, and/or up to 4 years of relevant experience.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle to travel to client’s home.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 6 months of prior experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in an ABA setting.
  • Current certification or willingness to become certified as a Registered Behavior Technician ( RBT ).
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of organization.
  • Ability to work independently.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be physically active and be on your feet most of the day. (Duties may involve running and playing active games with individuals with autism (ages 3 1/2 – 21 years or adults).
  • Following training must be physically capable of safely providing crisis management techniques including restraining, lifting, and blocking individuals with challenging behaviors.
