Job Summary:
The Behavior Technician supports students with behavioral, emotional, and developmental needs in the school environment. The Technician implements individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs), collects data, and helps create a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement behavior intervention plans.
- Support students in general education or special education classrooms to promote positive behaviors.
- Use strategies to increase skills in areas such as communication, social interaction, and academic engagement.
- Collect and record accurate data on student behavior and skill acquisition.
- Assist with crisis intervention and de‑escalation techniques as needed while maintaining a calm disposition.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure consistency and continuity of interventions.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times in compliance with school and district policies.
- Complete training and certification requirements, including CPI, which may include implementing restraint methods.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with children, preferably in a school or special education setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- RBT certification OR proof of completion of 40‑hour modules toward certification for Registered Behavior Technician.
