The Stepping Stones Group is hiring a School-Based Behavior Technician / Education Assistant in Rio Rancho, NM to support students with behavioral and learning needs. You will work one-on-one and in small groups under an individualized plan and collaborate with teachers and specialists.

Qualifications

• New Mexico Level III Education Assistant certification is required or 3+ years of EA experience.
• Completion of a 40-hour Behavior Technician training course or at least 6 months of ABA/behavior experience.
• Demonstrated ability to support instruction, student supervision, classroom management, and diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, one-on-one and small-group behavior support to students under an individualized behavior intervention plan (BIP).
• Partner with classroom teachers, BCBAs, and the school's special education team to implement behavior and learning supports.
• Reinforce instruction, assist with academic tasks, and help students build independence, self-regulation, and confidence.
• Support students with daily routines, transitions, and social-emotional needs.
• Collect and document behavioral data, and communicate observations to the classroom teacher and care team.
• Help create a safe, structured, and encouraging classroom environment.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent)
• New Mexico Level III Education Assistant certification — or 3+ years of experience as an Education Assistant, with willingness to complete Level III certification requirements
• Completion of a 40-hour Behavior Technician training course, or minimum 6 months of ABA/behavior experience (don't have the BT course yet? No problem — it's free and we'll help you get it done quickly!)
• Demonstrated ability to support instruction, student supervision, classroom management, and diverse learners
• Strong communication, patience, and collaboration skills
