The Learning Institute for Functional Education (L.I.F.E.) is hiring for entry to experienced level Behavior Technicians (BT) for San Joaquin County! L.I.F.E. offers various employee incentives, such as an attendance bonus, opportunities to earn gift cards during work hours, and possibilities for career advancement.

We REQUIRE applicants to become RBT certified after being hired! There is a $2 RAISE and $250 BONUS upon certification. We provide resources to help you become certified, including a free 40-hour RBT course, free competency assessment, free supervision hours, and support throughout the process. The 40-hour course must be completed by the 60th day, and the exam scheduled by the 90th day.

Pay: ranges $18-$24 per hour depending on experience, certifications, and education.

Summary:

L.I.F.E. uses principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) to increase functional skills and decrease maladaptive behaviors in children and adolescents diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The Behavior Technician will work directly with clients to implement behavior treatment plans overseen by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). This role involves traveling within your county to work with clients in their homes, running target programs, collecting data, and creating a positive environment.

Our behavior technicians play a vital role in improving clients' and families' lives. The ideal candidate is fun, energetic, and creative.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Work 1:1 in clients' homes and community settings.
  • Build and maintain rapport with children and families.
  • Create positive social interactions and reinforce desirable behaviors.
  • Implement individualized behavioral therapy programs.
  • Follow protocols and implement activities developed by senior staff and BCBAs.
  • Accurately record data on each activity.
  • Participate in team meetings and training.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance at all times.

Hours and Availability:

  • Sessions are approximately 3 hours long.
  • Preference for candidates with afternoon and evening availability (3:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday - Friday).
  • Schedules vary based on availability and client needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Negative TB test and criminal background clearance upon hire.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and active insurance.
  • Willing to travel within the county.
  • Willing to obtain RBT certification.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and sitting on the floor.

Preferred:

  • Experience with children or adults with disabilities.
  • BA/BS degree in a related field.
