Job summary

The Home for Little Wanderers' Plymouth-based COVE School is seeking a Behavior Technician to support students with complex trauma and mental health challenges in their learning, helping maximize time in class and learning.

You will implement behavior interventions from IEPs/ICSPs, work with an interdisciplinary team, participate in IEP meetings, and attend training to strengthen trauma-informed practice.

Qualifications

  • Higher education degree preferred; pursuing RBT certification or BCBA field hours preferred.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and sensitivity to diverse populations.
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement school-wide management strategies and/or individual behavioral interventions.
  • Participate in team meetings supporting implementation of behavior plans.
  • Provide input on reintegration plans for students returning from hospitalizations or suspensions.
  • Utilize trauma-informed programming aligned with student needs.
  • Assess new students and those struggling to meet expectations; document findings.
  • Work with interdisciplinary team; attend IEP meetings and case conferences; communicate with providers.
  • Submit timely reports; ensure documentation meets quality standards.
  • Attend trainings; may train teachers and staff; participate in committees; provide on-call crisis intervention.

Job description

The Home for Little Wanderers' Plymouth-based COVE School is seeking a Behavior Technician for their campus. They will support students who have experienced complex trauma and/or mental health challenges in their learning to help maximize time in class and learning. This position directly supports students in regulating after demonstrating challenging behaviors and executes interventions from students’ IEPs and ICSPs.

How You’ll Be Making a Difference
  • Design, develop and implement school-wide management strategies and/or individual behavioral interventions.
  • Participate in team meetings providing support and management for the implementation of behavior plans.
  • Provide input and support on follow-up and implementation of reintegration plans for students who are returning to school from hospitalizations or suspensions.
  • Experience in developing/implementing trauma-informed programming is needed.
  • Utilize behavior plans that are consistent with program goals and that best fit with students’ age and treatment needs.
  • Perform assessment and evaluation of new students and students consistently struggling to meet the expectations at school.
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide quality care. Attend staff meetings, IEP meetings and case conferences. Consult with supervisor and team members on challenging or difficult student issues and facilitate communication between various providers.
  • Submit reports and documentation in a timely manner. Under supervisor’s guidance, ensures that documentation meets utilization review and quality assurance standards.
  • Attend in-service training and outside seminars to enhance and develop skills.
  • May provide training, workshops and consultations to teachers, parents and collateral staff. Perform program specific duties and functions.
  • May participate in agency committees.
  • Provide on-call coverage and crisis intervention as needed. May participate in agency committees.
Qualifications

  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer, with the ability to learn new software applications
Pay Range Positioning Summary

The pay range listed represents the company’s good faith estimate of the salary or wage range for this position at the time of posting, as required under applicable law. Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including a candidate’s relevant experience, education, skills, and internal equity relative to other employees in similar roles. Candidates with less directly related experience may be placed toward the lower end of the range, while those with extensive or specialized experience may be placed toward the higher end. Market conditions and budget considerations may also influence final pay decisions.
